Gayatri Patel Bahl

Gayatri has been dancing since the tender age of 7. She began her dancing/choreography career performing and choreographing her own piece in a local Indian dance competition. She ended up winning that competition and three after that. After that there was no turning back.

Born and raised in Alabama, her parents would drive 2 hours every weekend for training in Kathak. At the age of 15th she took an intense three month training course from Kathak Exponent, Maya Rao, to further sharpen her Kathak skills.

However, her training would not end there. After moving to Mumbai to pursue acting at 19, she began training with Vijayshree Choudhary , a student of Kathak Maestro Birju Maharaj. Gayatri’s training with Vijayshree Chaudhary further refined her innate dancing abilities. Her strengths as a dancer lie in her ability to not only be technically beautiful, but also expressive and engaging.

During the making of Let’s Dance, Gayatri had the privilege of being choreographed by Saroj Khan (Devdas) , Longinus Fernandes (Slum Dog Millionaire), and Rajeev Goswami. Gayatri’s performance as a dancer in ‘Let’s Dance’ has given her widespread acclaim amongst Hindi Film Industry critics.
