Bhavika Kapadia Patel

Bhavika’s love for dance began at the age of 5 when she started her formal training in Bharatnatyam in India. After coming to the U.S. at the age of 11, she continued her formal training in Bharatnatyam with Smt. Sudha Shekhar of Kalanjali School of Dance. Under the instruction of her Guru Sudha Shekhar, Bhavika grew up performing in various dance recitals at the Kalanjali School of Dance and also taking part in annual dance competitions in the tri-state area such as Naya Andaz and FIA. During her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, Bhavika was part of SAPA, Rutgers first South Asian dance troupe, which allowed her to choreograph and perform various styles of dance. Being part of SAPA also provided a great platform to perform and compete in many intercollegiate shows such as Naach Nation and SASA.

With years of training and gaining inspiration from Bollywood artists such as Madhuri Dixit, Bhavika has learned the foundation of various styles of dance: Bollywood, Classical, Semi-Classical, Garba, Raas, Folk, Contemporary and Hip-Hop.

In an effort to continue to learn and grow in her own dance journey, Bhavika joined The Sa Dance Company in 2010. Bhavika is currently married and has a one and half year old daughter. She also works in NYC as a Director at FTI Consulting, Inc. Even with the demands of her family life and professional career, she has been able to continue to express her love and passion for dance through Sa and hopes to share her passion with her daughter in the future.
